Miltech Simulations has released the MV-22B Osprey for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
According to the developer, the aircraft is a highly detailed representation of the MV-22B Osprey VSTOL (Vertical/Short Take-off and Landing), sporing an accurate 3D model based on actual flight manuals and references. Other features include custom sounds, automatic operation of the doors and ramp and interior/exterior lighting, including Osprey’s iconic blade tip lights.
The flight deck is also a comprehensive simulation of the real aircraft. All instruments and systems are custom coded, such as the manual operation of engine nacelles based on airspeed, a full simulation of BFWS (Blade Fold and Wing Stow) procedures and auto-hover capabilities with a custom-coded autopilot.
It comes with custom VTOL/STOL flight dynamics, including realistic aircraft handling during the movement of the engine nacelles. It also features vortex ring state modelling and accurate simulation of the gearing system connecting the proprotors, which allows one engine to be operated at reduced performance. Overstress limitations of the powerplants as per the real aircraft is also replicated as the engines cannot sustain full power for an extended period.
The package includes an operations manual and five liveries; US Marines, US Navy, US Air Force and Japan Self-Defense Force. It is available on OrbxDirect for AUD$51.35 (approx £28.99).
