New home for TBAG's Buccaneers

The Buccaneer Aviation Group (TBAG) is a small group of dedicated volunteers affectionately known as ‘the T-Baggers’, who look after two fully-functional ex-RAF Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B aircraft at Cotswold Airport in Gloucestershire.

TBAG were formerly based at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire, where the volunteers restored and operated their two cherished Buccaneers, XX894 and XW544, alongside the Cold War Jets Collection. There were several other private groups at Bruntingthorpe, such as the Lightning Preservation Group and the Canberra Treble Three Group – this gathering of historic jet aircraft and cohesive volunteers spanned almost two decades from 2003 until early 2020, when the former RAF airfield was eventually leased to new tenants. Although sympathetic to the site’s aviation heritage, the new tenants could offer no space to accommodate the aircraft, necessitating their removal by the end of the same year.
