Direct services between Newcastle and Jersey will commence in May, initially operating twice weekly
Glasgow-based Loganair has expanded its summer schedule for this year even further by adding a new route between Newcastle and Jersey.
Flights for the new service will commence on May 28 and will operate two times a week on Fridays and Sundays until early July. This will then increase to three weekly flights until October 26 with an added Tuesday service.
A 49-seat Embraer ERJ145 regional jet has been rostered for the new route.
Kay Ryan, Loganair’s chief commercial officer, believes the new route “will prove extremely popular as it is increasingly likely that British holidaymakers’ options will be unfortunately severely limited this year.
“The route will ensure customers from two airports in the North East have access to one of the most beautiful and popular holiday destinations in the British Isles, one which provides more than a hint of being overseas with its French place names and climate.”
The airline’s constantly growing summer schedule displays its commitment to Jersey, as flights from Teesside International, Norwich, Edinburgh and the Isle of Man to the Channel Island have already been announced.
This also adds to the destinations from Newcastle, which already consisted of Aberdeen, Bergen, Exeter, Newquay, Southampton and Stavanger.
“Jersey is a popular destination for the North East travelling public, providing an island getaway a little closer to home. This new service will give greater flexibility for passengers wishing to travel to Jersey whether that be for a holiday, business or to visit family and friends,” said Leon McQuaid, Newcastle International Airport’s head of aviation development.
