New X-Plane destination for Orbx

Orbx has lifted the lid on its first Australian destination for X-Plane 11 – Broome International Airport. Originally created by Jarrad Marshall for FSX, it is being ported over to X-Plane with the help of developers, Mac Ottlinger and Chris Vezirgiannis.

Broome is a popular tourist destination in North Western Australia and a major regional hub for the Kimberley and north-east Pilbara regions. It has a variety of scheduled domestic flights as well as corporate jet and general aviation traffic including helicopter sightseeing flights and a busy Royal Flying Doctor service. The package by Orbx is a detailed rendition of the Broome Airport and the town, which features dozens of local landmarks, points of interest and hand-placed autogen including custom tropical vegetation.

At the time of going to press, no release date had been announced, but Jarrad explained: “Development has progressed quite far down the track; we’re now deep into testing and final adjustments.”
