North Macedonia has donated its fleet of four Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot twin-engine ground attack/strike jets to Ukraine, according to local media reports on August 4.
The North Macedonian Ministry of Defence (MOD) did not deny or confirm this information and also avoided to comment on whether the aircraft were donated together with related weapons, reserve engines, spare parts and relevant tools. In a short statement, the North Macedonian MOD said that “the exact details of all three [North Macedonian government] decisions [regarding the donation of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine], their content and explanation will be declassified and transparently published. The decisions made so far do not affect the combat readiness of our Army.”
Information regarding the donation of the North Macedonian Su-25s to Ukraine comes just days after the MOD confirmed that it is donating an unspecified number of T-72 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) to the war-torn nation.
