Operators add Textron’s mid-size Citation to fleets

OPERATORS IN Mexico, the Netherlands and the UK have recently added members of Textron’s mid-size Cessna Citation family to their fleets.

On December 26, ASL/ JetNetherland announced it had taken delivery of a fourth Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign. Previously operated and managed under the Federal Aviation Administration N register, the 2006-built aircraft is now in the process of being re-registered in Belgium.

The Sovereign will be based in Maastricht-Aachen airport and has been added to ASL’s Air Operator’s Certificate in order to commence immediate charter operations. The company already operates two Sovereign+ and one classic Sovereign.

Safety Manager Maxime Wauters said: “The Citation Sovereign has proven to be a very successful and reliable aircraft for the company, for owners and clients alike. The mid-size jet offers a great compromise in terms of range, performance, cabin comfort, equipment, reliability and efficiency in its class.”

In early January, Luxaviation UK, part of the Luxaviation Group, also announced it had added a new member of the Citation family to its fleet, in the form of Cessna 560XL Citation XLS+ G-GAAL.

The aircraft has recently been refurbished and delivered from Cessna Citation Services in Doncaster. It will be based at London Luton Airport, together with a full-time crew to cater for last-minute charter requests.

Luxaviation UK Managing Director George Galanopolous said: “We are always looking for opportunities to add high-quality aircraft to our fleet and the Citation XLS+ is a magnificent aircraft, able to reach all of Europe and North Africa from where it is based in the UK.”

More recently, Textron Aviation announced on January 8 that Aerolíneas Ejecutivas had placed an order for three Cessna 680A Latitude mid-size business jets for operation by its fractional ownership division, MexJet.

The new aircraft will be delivered during the first three quarters of 2018 and will join the MexJet fleet of more than 30 aircraft, based in Toluca and Monterrey.

MexJet’s Business Director, Alexis Javkin, said: “Our fractional clients are going to appreciate the performance of this aircraft, while travelling in what is the most comfortable, technologically advanced cabin in its class. The Latitude gives passengers large cabin comfort and amenities in a mid-size business jet, and we’re looking forward to demonstrating its innovative capabilities to our customers throughout Mexico and the region.” Nigel Pittaway
