Orbx - A return to roots

CityScene Gold Coast and Gold Coast Airport

Most of us who started our flight simulation journey at the dawn of time will remember that Orbx started out as an innovator of freeware scenery. Its original product was called VOZ and focused on the continent of Australia. As I recall, it was very well received and had more accuracy and detail than we had ever seen before, particularly covering such a vast area.

Many iconic buildings are depicted. This is the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort.

While Orbx has produced many other airports within the continent since that time, with these latest products it has firstly, produced base textures better suited to the Australian landscape and secondly, begun an ongoing project designed to add high-resolution cities and airports to sit on top of it. In this review I’ve looked at two of these products that deserve to be seen together as they partly occupy the same physical location. They are the CityScene Gold Coast and the Gold Coast Airport itself.
