Problems starting FSX: Steam Edition

I am having problems starting FSX: Steam Edition. The splash screen comes up and the blue ring spins around telling me things are about to launch but that is all that happens. FSX did once start up without any problems, then one day it just stopped.
My laptop is the right specification and I tried running FSX with administrator rights. I deleted Steam and FSX, then reloaded the programs twice over but with no success. I think I may be in need of guidance here. The publishers of FSX are in danger of losing a customer to X-Plane.

Hi Nick,
There are several things that could be causing this. Firstly, go to Event Viewer in Windows. Select ’Control Panel’ ’Administrative Tools’ and have a look in the Application and System logs for any information on what is causing FSX to crash.
Windows doesn’t always give away what the problem is, but with any luck you might find an entry there that will point you in the right direction.
If there is no trace in the Event log, try renaming fsx.cfg to something like fsx.cfg. bak in case you need it later. The file is in the following folder: C:\Users\’your user name’\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX.
