PLAY initiates its biggest recruitment drive

The Icelandic low-cost carrier is hiring as part of its growth trajectory ahead of summer 2023.

PLAY is currently advertising for 55 pilots and 150 flight attendants – all of whom will be based in Iceland. According to the airline, the move “marks the largest hiring yet for PLAY” and added that applications will be considered from both experienced and inexperienced members of crew.

At the time of writing, Keflavík-based PLAY fields six aircraft, with three examples each of the Airbus A320neo and A321neo. This winter, a further quartet of A320neo Family jets are poised for hand over; these are planned to be in service from spring 2023.

Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, commented: “This is the right time to begin hiring for our growth next summer. I am truly excited to welcome new members to our team and we are proud to be able to provide all these new jobs.”

During summer 2022, 70 pilots and 150 flight attendants worked at the carrier.
