A pair of Pilatus PC-24 light business jets have been ordered by the Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF), which will use the type to conduct training and VIP transport operations.
The order was revealed when the Swiss aircraft manufacturer published its Annual Report for 2020 on April 22. The contract for the two PC-24s was officially signed in November 2020 but has not been made public until now. The deal includes a five-year support contract to provide on-site technical assistance for the aircraft.
With this acquisition, the QEAF becomes the third military customer for the PC-24, which is dubbed the ‘Super Versatile Jet’ by Pilatus. The first military order for the type came from the Botswana Defence Force - Air Wing, which has operated a single example for VIP transport duties since October 2018.
The second customer for the type was the Swiss Air Force, which has also procured a single aircraft for use in the VVIP transport role. This aircraft was delivered to the European air arm on January 29, 2019.
