The US State Department has approved a potential sale of 24 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters to Qatar, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on May 9, 2019.
Under the proposed three billion US dollar deal, Qatar would acquire 24 AH-64Es, together with 52 GE T700- GE-701D engines (48 installed and four spares), 26 ASQ-170 Modernised Target Acquisition and Designation Sights, 26 AAQ-11 Modernised Pilot Night Vision Sensors, eight Longbow APG-78 fire control radars, 29 AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems and 2,500 AGM-114R Hellfire missiles.
The additional Apaches are intended to supplement the Qatar Emiri Air Force’s fleet of 24 AH-64Es, which were ordered in 2016.
