RAF prepares to receive the Protector RG1

Throughout August and September, a General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) MQ-9B SkyGuardian has been performing demonstration operations from RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire, as part of the SkyGuardian to the UK 2021 (SG2UK21) programme.

The SkyGuardian - registration N190TC, also known as YBC-01 - is a pre-production prototype of the UK’s next generation medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) remotely piloted air system (RPAS) and has been flying out of the Royal Air Force’s (RAF's) Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) hub for multiple demonstration and capability flights.
