RAF Typhoons on Op Ellamy

A lot can change in a decade. In February 2022, pairs of RAF-operated Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4s thunder into Mediterranean skies from RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus, twice per day, six days a week. They are flying sorties in support of Operation Shader, the UK’s contribution to the ongoing multinational military intervention against Islamic State (IS). Their role is to help defeat IS across Iraq and Syria, attacking insurgents with overwhelming but precisely targeted effect.
