Retro flight simming

One man’s passion for classic combat flight sims

During one of my recent retro phases, which I go through from time to time, I came across a very popular YouTube channel run by a gentleman calling himself ‘Damsonn’ (real name Damian Kadziela). The premise of his channel is that he produces playthrough videos of vintage combat flight sim missions and campaigns which he flies on a regular basis, and then uploads them to his channel.

One of the first PC flight sims Damian owned was Red Baron from Dynamix.

At the time of writing it has had 1,238,741 views. Watching Damsonn’s videos brought back fond memories of those well-produced simulations of a bygone age. So, curious to find out more about the man behind this excellent channel and why he decided to set it up, I invited him to talk to us about his passion for ‘retro flight simming’.

MicroProse’s Falcon 4.0 was another groundbreaking flight simulation which also came with a fully dynamic campaign.
