Colorado-based Frontier Airlines has become the third largest low-cost carrier in the US. Ralph Olson charts the airline’s rise and looks at its current operations and expansion plans.

Frontier Airlines serves 75 US cities and five international destinations.

Like the history of many carriers, Frontier Airlines’ is winding. Although a totally separate entity from its predecessor of the same name, Frontier still maintains its home in Denver, Colorado. It has reorganised, gone through bankruptcy and has had several owners. Despite the challenges of the past, Frontier is thriving, now serving 75 US cities and five international destinations.
