Roskilde Airport is significantly smaller than big brother Kastrup, but this compact facility has carved out a place for itself at the heart of general aviation in Denmark, finds Sebastian Schmitz
The Danish city of Roskilde is located just under 20 miles west of the capital, Copenhagen, on the island of Zealand. With a population of a little over 50,000 inhabitants, Roskilde is Denmark’s tenth-biggest city and one of the country’s oldest, dating back to the Viking era. A bustling and pleasant city, Roskilde is best known for its annual music festival, one of the biggest in Europe. It also boasts Denmark’s busiest general aviation airfield, four miles southeast of the city centre.
