Second US Navy carrier arrives in Middle East as Israel-Hamas conflict intensifies

The US Navy’s USS Dwight D Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (IKECSG) has arrived in the Middle East as part of a show of force in the wake of the Hamas attack on Israel.

Carrier Strike Group 2 (CSG-2) comprises the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN-69), the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, USS Philippine Sea (CG-58), and the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS Mason (DDG-87) and USS Gravely (DDG-107) of Destroyer Squadron 22 (DESRON 22). In addition to these warships, CSG-2 also includes Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3) – which consists of nine air squadrons – and the Information Warfare Commander.
