Airbus Helicopters announced on June 26, 2019, that it has delivered the first of nine H145M helicopters to the Serbian Ministry of Defence.

The nine H145Ms will be operated by the Serbian Air Force and the Ministry of the Interior.

The helicopters will be equipped with an Airbus Helicopters’ HForce weapons management system, a fast roping system, fire suppression and support weapons, ballistic protection and an electronic countermeasures system.

Serbia has also ordered three H215 Super Puma helicopters for use by the Ministry of the Interior.

Under the H145M acquisition deal, the Moma Stanojlovic aeronautical plant near Belgrade is also set to become a maintenance hub for the maintenance of the survivors of 160 Aerospatiale SA341 and SA342 Gazelle helicopters produced under licence in the Soko plant in Mostar between 1971 and 1991.

Speaking at the delivery ceremony, Airbus Helicopters’ CEO Bruno Even, said: “Both events underline the fact that Serbia and Airbus have entered into a close partnership.” Nigel Pittaway
