Quark Expeditions

For most people, even those with helicopters, 2020 was a year of restricted travel and cancelled holidays, making Luxaviation Helicopters’ October announcement regarding its co-operation with Quark Expeditions especially refreshing. The Seattle-based ‘polar adventure’ tour operator has commissioned ‘Ultramarine’, the first ever ship designed for polar tourism.

The vessel’s array of features includes a pair of fully marinised H145 helicopters, operated by Starspeed, which expects to receive the aircraft in April 2021 and embark for the first customer cruise during the summer, COVID-depending.

It’s an unusual, challenging contract.
