Singapore soldiers on

Almost entirely shut off to international traffic since March 2020, only in recent weeks has Singapore started to reopen its borders. Andreas Spaeth travelled to the Lion City to assess the impact on its two largest airlines

It is approaching midnight at Terminal 3 at Singapore/Changi Airport. This is normally a peak time for overnight connections to Europe and North America, and a showcase for one of the world’s most popular transit hubs. During the author’s visit, in September 2021, it resembled a ghost town.
