Aero Vodochody has completed overhaul and upgrade of the sixth of ten Kazakhstan Air Force L-39Cs that are being fitted with a GenesyS avionics system.
The aircraft, ‘07 Red’ (c/n 734125), took to the air from the factory airfield on April 27. This work sees the trainer jets upgraded with a head-up display (HUD) and two multi-function displays.
The Kazakh Ministry of Defence announced on March 11, 2021, that the first refurbished aircraft had been redelivered and all of the initial five were completed during the first half of last year, following which they were delivered to the 609th Air Base at Balkhash. The remainder are set to be flown back to Kazakhstan over the next few months.
Originally for six aircraft, the deal has progressively been increased to ten. Alan Warnes
