Spanish Super Puma’s new titles

The Ejército del Aire’s 402 Escuadrón based at Cuatro Vientos Air Base near Madrid is about to receive its first AS332M1 Super Puma from overhaul at Airbus Helicopters, Albacete facility with some paint changes. The helicopter registered HT.21A-3/402-22 has new titles applied; ‘Reino de España’ (Spanish Kingdom) on the forward upper fuselage, ‘Ejercito del Aire’ (Air Force) on the boom, and the EU flag on the tail. Title changes had been implemented on the VIP aircraft operated by 45 Grupo based at Torrejón Air Base some time ago. Helicopters assigned to 402 Escuadrón are used to transport members of the Spanish royal family and government ministers around the country. Seen at Airbus Helicopters’ Albacete facility on May 11, AS332M1 Super Puma HT.21A-3/402-22 resplendent after its overhaul and repainting before its test flights. This is the first 402 Escuadrón helicopter to incorporate the new titles. Roberto Yáñez
