For their appearance in A Bridge Too Far, the participating Harvards had to be modified extensively to represent other aircraft types. “It was a major exercise for the foundation’s technicians and other volunteers and one that was accomplished within an amazingly short timeframe”, recalls Klaas van der Ham, who would later lead the flight’s technical division. Operating out of Deelen and Soesterberg air bases, they played both USAAF Republic P-47 Thunderbolts and RAF Hawker Typhoons.
