A delightful day’s flying, courtesy the Royal Aeronautical Society — and one that could almost be repeated in the present

Today, the only garden party associated with Wisley is the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual flower show. But for two years in the 1950s, the Surrey town’s airfield — Vickers-Armstrongs’ flight test aerodrome — hosted a very different type of occasion, on behalf of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
