Successful year for Spanish Super Saeta

Former Spanish Air Force Hispano Aviación HA-220 Super Saeta is airworthy again after years of restorative work

This distinctive classic jet has rejoined the airshow circuit – and it’s also available for passenger experience flights.

Since 2019 the Super Saeta has been owned by Asociaciòn A3H, and is now the sole airworthy example of the type in Spain. A3H offers 40-minute passenger experience flights in the jet from its base at Burgos.

Built in 1971, A3H’s jet flew with the military as A.10C-107/22-107, initially operating with 214 Escuadrón at Morón air base. After withdrawal from service in the early 1980s it was eventually acquired and made airworthy by Club Acrobático del Mediterráneo. High running costs led to it entering storage prior to it joining A3H. Restoration was carried out at the Rosique Aircraft workshops by Alfonso Rosique, Raúl Naranjo and A3H staff. It now flies on Spain’s civil register as EC-IFJ, and made several successful airshow appearances over the summer. With thanks to Carlos Bravo http://a3h.es
