Swedish Gripens latest road operations exercise

Dispersed operations away from the main operating base, as the Russia-Ukraine war has shown us, is now a major priority for NATO nations. When Ukraine was invaded on February 24, 2022, many of its fighters had been hastily dispatched to remote bases.

As we saw during those first few hours, all notable military locations known to the Russian enemy were hit with long range strikes, by ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, as well as armed drones. Keeping assets hidden is almost impossible because of satellites and surveillance drones, so remaining under cover or keep on the move is a major priority.
