Swissport appoints new CEO

Warwick Brady will assume the position in spring 2021, succeeding Christoph Mueller

Swissport International AG has appointed Warwick Brady as the new President and CEO.

He will replace Christoph Mueller and will assume the position in spring of this year. Mueller has been acting as an interim CEO since the beginning of January. Once Brady takes the position, his predecessor will become the chairman of the board of directors.

Currently, Brady is the CEO of British infrastructure, aviation and energy company, Esken Limited which has operations in both the UK and Ireland. He enabled the business to shift its focus onto aviation and renewable energy.

He allowed for operational turnarounds, complex financing and re-focussing of the business as part of the restructuring.

Previous to the role at Esken, Brady was chief operating officer at easyJet for nearly eight years. He was part of the leadership team that enabled the airline to become a FTSE 100 business.

Christoph Mueller is “delighted” by Brady’s appointment: “At easyJet, Warwick was instrumental in several successful initiatives… and he will play a key role in driving Swissport's transformation.”

As well as being based in the UK, the new CEO has also collected a lot of international experience in senior roles. Some of his previous appointments include chief executive officer of Mandala Airlines in Indonesia, chief operating officer at Air Deccan/Kingfisher in India and deputy operations director at Ryanair.

He was formerly a board member of Airline Group and NATS – the UK’s airspace provider – and was deputy CEO of Buzz.

“I am excited and honoured to be asked to lead Swissport in such unprecedented times. There is some hard work ahead, but the potential of Swissport and the medium-term market outlook will certainly make this an exciting journey. We will leverage Swissport’s great legacy of providing airlines around the world with ground services and cargo handling that they can rely on with confidence. And we will speed up Swissport’s already ongoing transformation into a more agile, innovative and efficient organization and business partner,” said Brady.

Brady is currently a non-executive director at the First Group. He also has an MBA and holds a commercial pilots license.
