The tech that can turn any 737 into an oil spill response aircraft

Within three hours, the popular narrowbody can be transformed from its day-to-day role of carrying cargo. Key.Aero speaks to the company behind this revolutionary kit to find out how it works

A partner firm of leading aviation services provider RVL Group has been granted the export sales license (ESL) for a kit which can turn a Boeing 737 into an oil spill response aircraft in a matter of hours.

Agile Spray Response (ASR) was awarded the ESL to manufacture, market and sell its CONVERT400 system around the world. The technology has been developed, tested and now adopted by the UK Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA) as its chosen oil dispersant spray system (ODSS).

CONVERT400 does not require a dedicated aircraft or associated costs of maintenance, storage and personnel. Instead, the technology is ‘rolled on and rolled off’, which eliminates the need for countries and companies to maintain fixed aviation assets to manage the risk of offshore oil spills.
