Thales set to deploy new ILS at Hong Kong

The solution is set to support the airport’s three-runway development scheme to help improve capacity  

Technology firm, Thales has partnered with Dragonair Airport GSE Service (DAS) to deploy the new instrument landing system (ILS) at Hong Kong International (HKIA). 

This solution – which his designed to support the site’s three-runway expansion project – is set to improve the hub’s capacity and elevate the efficiency of aircraft landing whilst maintaining high safety standards.

Dragonair’s aperture localiser array with 32-element localiser antenna is planned to provide accurate guidance signals to aircraft approaching and landing on the runway in varying weather conditions.  

The Thales solution has already been implemented at multiple airports internationally, including Istanbul, Ankara Esenboga and Paris/Charles de Gualle.

Thales has been supporting HKIA in Hong Kong for more than 20 years. 

DAS is responsible for the project liaison and coordination with the contributing stakeholders, logistics support and on-site installation of the ILS project.
