Based on Thrustmaster’s new proprietary suspended pendular technology, the Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder (TPR) System includes the first pendular rudder pedals designed for the mass market. As with all of Thrusmaster’s latest products, they will take advantage of Hall effect magnetic sensors to provide “a high degree of precision and fluidity on each of the three axes”. Toe-brakes have also been incorporated.
The TPR system is made from a mix of steel and aluminium and weighs 15lb (7kg). At the time of going to press, Thrustmaster’s new rudder pedals were available and retailing for €499.99 (£445 approx).
The Pendular Rudder pedals come with two sets of springs with which the resistance of the rudder can be adjusted to the user’s personal preference. In addition, each pedal has two adjustment points with five different positions, so the pedals have a range of between 35° and 75°. Tools to change the springs or the position of the pedals are also provided.
The TPR’s metal base plate provides excellent stability, even if you do not incorporate the pedals in a custom cockpit. However, four holes in the footplate are provided for such use. In addition, the TPR can be used seamlessly in conjunction with Thrustmaster’s HOTAS Warthog. The dimensions of the TPR pedals are: 53 x 36 x 36cm. In addition they include a USB 2.0 connection, are compatible with FSX, FSX: Steam Edition, Prepar3D, X-Plane and Aerofly FS2 and come with a two-year warranty.
