Puss Moth and Tiger Moth update

A distinctive Puss Moth is now at Old Warden, while a Tiger Moth has been transferred to the Hooton Park Trust

In December 2022, de Havilland DH.80a Puss Moth G-AEOA was delivered to the Old Warden-based Shuttleworth Collection – it is the subject of a possible return to flight project.

The 1931-built machine has previously been based with the Collection, and is today owned by Andrew Woods who is also the proud owner of fellow Old Warden residents Sopwith Dove G-EAGA and Gipsy Moth G-ABAG. It’s now hoped that the Puss Moth can be returned to the air, alongside its Old Warden-based sisters.

In other vintage de Havilland news, the Historic Army Aircraft Flight was recently in the process of dismantling de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth EM840 for transfer to the Hooton Park Trust’s Cheshire collection. The HAAF noted: “This aircraft currently has no engine and there was little real prospect of it being restored by us to flying condition. In its new home it will be viewed by aviation enthusiasts and the public.”
