GORDON RILEY PROFILES HURRICANE HERITAGE’S HURRICANE MK.I R4118, A GENUINE BATTLE OF BRITAIN WARRIOR.

Hawker Hurricane Mk.I R4118 (G-HUPW) of Hurricane Heritage during a sortie out of Old Warden. ALL AIR-TO-AIR PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOHN DIBBS – THE PLANE PICTURE COMPANY

Hurricane I R4118 is the only airworthy example that served in the Battle of Britain – let alone scored victories in it – and is probably the most authentic. Included in the inventory of original items is the Rolls-Royce Merlin III, the Browning 0.303 machine guns, the TR9 radio and the identification, friend or foe transponder. It carries the exact markings it wore in service with 605 Squadron in the summer of 1940.
