Tunisia deploys C-130J to Mali

The Tunisian Air Force has sent a Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules and 75 personnel to Mali to support the United Nations peacekeeping mission there, United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). The aircraft left for Bamako, Mali, on February 1, 2019. The deployment will be for a year and will provide logistical support, but the mission may be extended. In the future, a quick reaction force comprising 750 Special Forces will be deployed along with 120 military police.

The Tunisian Air Force ordered two C-130J-30s in March 2010 and these were delivered in April 2013 and December 2014. They are the first Super Hercules ordered by an African customer.
