Two new products from Turtle Beach
In Issue 137 we introduced the new VelocityOne flight yoke and throttle combo from the San Diego-based Turtle Beach Corporation. Well, they’ve now produced two more flight-related products in the form of an advanced flight stick and a set of rudder pedals. They’re branded as the VelocityOne Flight Stick and VelocityOne Rudder Pedals.

I think it’s fair to say that many flight sim pilots don’t use rudder pedals, instead relying on the usual twist-handle feature provided by the majority of joysticks, or flight sticks. In fact, it’s something I used myself when I first became hooked on flight simulation. However, there comes a time when you need more than the crude rudder control provided by a joystick. I’m talking about the more precise control you need and get with pedals and the facility for controlling the aircraft while taxiing where differential braking makes life much easier. My point is that once you’ve used a set of pedals, you would not want to go back to a joystick for rudder control or push buttons for braking.
