Located in the heart of Central America, five miles (8km) from downtown Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, Toncontín International is situated in one of the city’s high-density neighbourhoods. Its location in a small valley means that hilly terrain surrounds the site. In addition, it lies in the middle of an active seismic area known as the Central American Volcanic Arc (CAVA), with a line of volcanoes between two tectonic plates.
