Air Force Test Center units reorganized
The US Air Force has announced several organizational changes that will re-align selected Air Force Test Center operations and facilities under the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) in Tennessee. As part of the process, the 96th Test Group at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, which is assigned to the 96th Test Wing at Eglin AFB, Florida, will be inactivated. The 704th Test Group will be formed in its place and the new group assigned to the AEDC. The 96th Test Group’s 586th Flight Test Squadron, which operates several T-38Cs and a C-12J in support of developmental programs, will be reassigned to the 704th. The AETC will also assume responsibility for the 96th Test Wing’s McKinley Climatic Laboratory at Eglin and the Hypersonic Combined Test Force, which is currently part of the 412th Test Wing at Edwards AFB, California, as well as operations at the Federal Research Center at White Oak, Maryland, and operating locations at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico; Moffett Federal Airfield, California; Wright- Patterson AFB, Ohio; and the US Army’s White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
