USAF accepts its first F-15EX

The US Air Force (USAF) formally accepted its first F-15EX at Boeing’s facility in St Louis, Missouri, on March 10 – just over a month after the multi-role fighter graced the skies for the first time.

The aircraft – serial 20-0001 – is the first F-15EX to be delivered to the USAF, which plans to procure 144 examples of the multi-role fighter to provide a much-needed refresh of its wider Eagle fleet. A day after its delivery (March 11), the aircraft was flown to Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), Florida, to begin an expedited developmental and operational test campaign with the 40th Flight Test Squadron (FLTS) and 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron (TES). A second F-15EX is scheduled to arrive at Eglin AFB by the end of April.
