USAF charts Grey Wolf progress as it receives first helicopters

Boeing and Leonardo Helicopters delivered four MH-139A Grey Wolf utility helicopters to Duke Field - located to the north of Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), Florida - in mid-August as the US Air Force (USAF) prepares to start test and development operations with the type.

A derivative of Leonardo’s AW139 medium-lift utility helicopter, the MH-139A solution is being delivered to the USAF through a collaboration between Leonardo Helicopters and Boeing. The platform is manufactured by Leonardo Helicopters at its facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, while Boeing is responsible for modifying the aircraft into a militarised utility helicopter and installing the relevant systems and equipment for the type’s unique mission. The latter also provides post-delivery support for the aircraft.
