As Russian troops were massing on Ukraine borders, joint USAF and Polish Air Force drills were taking place in Baltic airspace, as Bartosz Głowacki reports.
Poland played host to a large number of fighters in the second half of April. It came as Russia was increasing its forces along the border with Ukraine. Pentagon spokesman John F Kirby said this build-up was “certainly larger” than in 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea, and while Moscow said it was all for training, it was “not completely clear” to the Pentagon if this was true and called for more clarity from Moscow about their intentions. As it transpired Russia stepped back.
