The USAF readies the F-15EX Eagle II

A special publication to mark the 75th anniversary of the USAF featured this article on the Boeing F-15EX Eagle II, which is the most advanced Eagle yet and is the first new fourth generation fighter to be procured by the USAF for many years

The F-15EX is the most advanced variant of the F-15 Eagle flying today. Based on the F-15QA Advanced Eagle for Qatar, the F-15EX was developed as a replacement for the USAF’s legacy F-15C/Ds, which are in urgent need of replacement. It was decided that re-equipping the F-15C/D units could not wait for the availability of new F-35As, and that a new Eagle variant would provide a quicker route to a much-needed recapitalisation of the USAF fighter force.
