USAF releases report into $10m B-2 landing incident

An abbreviated Accident Investigation Board report into the incident on September 14, 2021, involving a B-2A Spirit at Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB) in Missouri has been released by Air Force Global Strike Command.

Published on March 17, the air force identified the aircraft involved as 89-0129 ‘WM’/‘Spirit of Georgia’ assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing’s (BW’s) 393rd Bomb Squadron (BS) ‘Tigers’ at Whiteman AFB. On September 14, 2021, at 0019hrs local time (L), the mishap aircraft (MA), a US Air Force (USAF) B-2A Spirit strategic bomber crewed by two active-duty pilots experienced a left main landing gear (LMLG) collapse while landing on the runway at Whiteman AFB.
