Peter Foster reports on the first delivery of USAF F-35As to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk

It was the start of a new chapter for the USAF’s 48th Fighter Wing (FW) – dubbed the ‘Statue of Liberty Wing’ – at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk on December 15, 2021, with the delivery of the first four Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning IIs for the recently reactivated 495th Fighter Squadron (FS), nicknamed the ‘Valkyries’.
