Vision-Box awarded single-token biometrics contract at KL International Airport

The company will be responsible for the design, supply, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the solution situated at the Malaysian facility

Lisbon-based multinational technology company, Vision-Box, has been awarded a project by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) for the implementation of a biometric management system at KL International Airport.

The firm’s Orchestra Digital Identity Management Platform is contactless technology that helps enhance passenger safety in response to the current global pandemic. It is also set to improve customer experience, by enabling identification, clearance and safety monitoring software.

A suite of digital tools has been implemented into the infrastructure, eliminating the need for passenger contact with touchscreen surfaces and physical interaction with staff.

The platform – which is set to be introduced at terminals KLIA and KILA2 at the hub – will be part of Malaysia Airport’s Single Token Journey scheme. This aims for passengers to experience a more efficient trip without needing to show their boarding pass, through the use of biometric technology.

In line with Malaysia Airport’s goal to modernise KLIA, Vision-Box plan to help achieve this by providing comprehensive solutions that create a seamless passenger experience.

“This announcement with MAHB is a major step forward in Vision-Box’s mission to make the industry more technologically efficient,” said Miguel Leitmann, CEO of Vision-Box. “Through integration, collaboration, and partnership, both Vision-Box and MAHB will see their ambition put into practice by unleashing the potential that contactless biometric technology offers. By implementing the Vision-Box Orchestra platform, KUL will be well positioned to safely securely and efficiently handle international passengers as a major hub in Asia.”

Privacy by Design, an accreditation for safeguarding personal and private information, has certified the new platform. This helps reassure passengers that their data is under the highest level of security protection, according to the digital identity company.

Over the past year, Vision-Box has increased its presence in Asia. The company has installed pre-security gates at Kansai International Airport in Osaka, announced a strategic partnership with AirAsia and introduced a contactless passenger experience for Emirates at Dubai International Airport.
