The US Department of Defense deployed more than 6,000 active-duty troops to help response efforts following Hurricane ‘Harvey’. It then followed up in responding to Hurricane ‘Irma’.


HURRICANE ‘HARVEY’ WAS formed from a tropical wave to the east of the Lesser Antilles, reaching tropical storm status on August 17. Making landfall as a category 4 storm, Harvey affected the states of Texas and Louisiana and caused considerable flooding in the Houston metropolitan area beginning on August 25.
