What is being done to make commercial space market more sustainable?

The commercial space market needs to be more sustainable, but achieving this is anything but straightforward, finds Mark Broadbent

Commercial space is flourishing, with more missions, new launch sites and small satellites offering fresh capabilities such as surveillance, climate monitoring, and communications and connectivity, among other useful applications.

Sustainability is high on the agenda, too as reflected by the discussions during the Royal Aeronautical Society’s New Space conference, held recently in London. As Astroscale MD Nick Shave told the conference: “There are lots of plans and things happening. We don’t want to stop that development, but we need to make it sustainable as we go.”
