What now for ITA Airways after historic Lufthansa deal?

It’s been a rather busy spell for Italian flag carrier ITA Airways, which not only took delivery of its first Airbus A330neo but also acquired a major new shareholder. Matteo Legnani brings us the latest from Rome

ITA Airways has dominated the commercial aviation news cycle around the world in recent weeks, and for all the right reasons. First came the historic €325m buyout of a 41% stake in the fledgling Italian flag carrier by the Lufthansa Group, following four months of intensive negotiations. Just a day later, its first Airbus A330-900 was delivered from the manufacturer’s Toulouse/Blagnac production facility to ITA’s Rome/Fiumicino base.
