Who was Piotr Łaguna?

With his name slowly spreading through the warbird world, following the announcement that his Spitfire Mk.IIb is returning to the air, we answer the question: who was Piotr Łaguna?

Piotr Łaguna was born of historic nobility on November 11, 1905, in the northeastern Polish village of Kędziorowo, to parents Piotr and Julianna. Tracing their family roots back to the 15th century, the couple had three sons (Józef, Henryk Bronisław and Piotr) and four daughters (Maria, Stanisława, Konstancja and AleksandraPiotr Sr and Julianna shaped their children’s futures by teaching them to be industrious, conscientious, responsible and disciplined. These qualities would go on to make Piotr Jr a noble and righteous person – as well as a Polish patriot. Attending the 3rd Elementary School in the town of Wąsosz, he later joined the 7th Private Grammar School in nearby Łomża.
