What better way for a business to make a statement than by parking a classic Boeing jet on its front lawn. Dirk Grothe travelled to Denmark to visit a company that has done exactly that
If you own a design and advertising agency and creativity is your daily business, you need to find an innovative way of standing out from the crowd. That’s exactly what Flemming Kok had in mind in 2003 when he kicked off his search for something “big”. His initial idea was to acquire a Boeing 747 – the Queen of the Skies would not only be a major statement, but it would also have enough space to comfortably accommodate his company and its staff. However, the aircraft’s vast size presented its own logistical challenges, as Kok explained to Airliner World: “The motorway bridges here in Denmark are simply too low for a 747 hull to pass underneath on a low-loader.”
Keen to conclude the sale, an aircraft dealer in the US even suggested Kok build a temporary runway beside his company’s head office on the outskirts of Aarhus and fly the aircraft in. Alas, such an endeavour was not really feasible, so the Dane switched his attention to something a little more practical.
