Young people with a proven passion for aviation have the chance to learn to fly in a historic de Havilland Tiger Moth...
The annual Sir Geoffrey de Havilland Flying Scholarship will open for applications from June 1. The award is presented annually to people aged up to 30 by the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers.
The winner will learn to fly with the Cambridge Flying Group, which operates a pair of de Havilland Tiger Moths. The closing date for applications is July 15. Last year the scholarship was awarded to Nicola Temple, a graduate avionics technician. She said:
“It is amazing to be chosen. I never thought that I would be able to learn to fly, and so this award really is a dream come true.”
