European low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced that it is adding a third Egyptian destination to its roster from London Luton.
The Luton-Cairo route, which is set to begin from October 30, will take-off thrice-weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The new service will take UK travellers to Sphinx International Airport, which is the ideal destination to explore the city of Giza and the vibrant Egyptian capital.
Marion Geoffroy, managing director of Wizz Air UK, said: “Our routes from Egypt to the UK are fast becoming some of our most popular, so we are delighted to be offering passengers more ways to explore this culturally rich destination. From Sphinx International Airport, travellers have so much ancient history at their fingertips to discover. With slightly cooler temperatures in winter, it’s the perfect time to explore this vibrant destination as part of our new winter schedule.”

Jonathan Rayner, Chief Commercial Officer at London Luton Airport said: “Providing our passengers with even greater choice is key to the simple and friendly passenger experience that we offer. We are delighted to announce the launch of flights from London Luton Airport to Sphinx International Airport, offering passengers an exciting new choice of destination and the opportunity to visit some truly breathtaking and iconic landmarks.”
The low-cost carrier already operates services to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh from the London gateway.
The news of a new route comes days after the operator celebrated carrying 65 million passengers from the airport. The milestone was reached with a flight departing for Istanbul on August 8.
Wizz Air has a longstanding relationship with London Luton Airport, the destination for the airline’s first flight from Katowice in Poland. Wizz Air currently employs close to 600 people at LLA and will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.
